ABOUT MAGDALENA PERANIC

Magdalena Peranic is a painter and an artist who primarily creates work in mixed media. Her interest lies in the possibilities of landscape spaces, places and their undefinable beings. In her exploration she moves from abstract and semi-abstract imagery to the surreal and back again.

Her landscapes are made subconsciously, combining memory, past observations, intuition, artistic influences, accidents and experience of growing up near the sea. The shapes, colours and materials she uses evoke the feeling of unusual familiarity and invite the viewer to question what they see. Her work suggests something figurative whilst disrupting the viewers’ ability to make complete sense of it. The surreal, dreamy places and spaces she depicts exist in the same way they were created - in-between reality and imagination.
